Oh Ladies have won Club of the Year in the England Athletics East Region volunteer Awards 2016 and now go forward for consideration for the national title.
“Wowowow!!” said an ecstatic Oh Ladies chair Carrie Hudson, “This is a very prestigious award for a relatively small club like ours. Everyone is welcome to come along to the presentation in Bedford so it should be fun”.
The award will be presented on Sunday August 28 at Bedford International Athletics Stadium during the England Athletics u15 and u17 National Championships.
Mick Shortland, Chair, East Region Council England Athletics said, “Your nomination was felt to be the best of a strong field of nominations and on behalf of the East region councilors; you are to be congratulated on this significant achievement”.
Oh Ladies have been nominated for Club of the Year in the England Athletics East Region Volunteer Awards 2016.
“This is a big deal for our club” said Oh Ladies Chair Carrie Hudson, fresh from picking up Sports Coach of the Year at the recent Hatfield Sport and Community Awards. “It’s recognition of everyone’s hard work and commitment to making Oh Ladies, the friendliest most supportive club in the area”.
The winner will be announced in Bedford on August 28 at the u17/u15 National Championships.
Mick Shortland, Chair of the England Athletics East Region Council said, “We just wanted to congratulate you and thank you for all the hard work you put into making our sport a success”.
Being nominated for an award is a wonderful way for others to show their gratitude for everything you do and I hope that you will find this recognition gratifying… so fingers’ crossed!
The Oh! Ladies had to give each other some elbow room at their track session at Gosling Sports Park as they concentrated on running technique.
The group were put through their paces by Hatfield Sports Coach of the Year, Carrie Hudson and started with a dynamic warm up.
They then looked at improving their running motion by concentrating on arm movement and foot placement.
With the words “Elbows at 90 degrees” and “Remember pockets to chin” ringing in their ears the group set off round the track for a series of sprints.
For those who missed out on the session, there’s plenty of opportunity to try out the exercises at one of the Oh! Ladies group runs, held on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays or Sundays. See our timetable for details.
